The people are processing wild rice. The seated person is roasting, the man by the chopped down tree is jigging (stepping on the rice to get the kernel out of the hull) and the man with the hat on is winnowing (throwing the rice in the air with the basket he is holding).

I would recreate my experience learning to make potato lefsa from my dad, which is a food from my heritage. I could show all of the steps from peeling the potatoes to flipping the lefsa on the hot griddle. Yum!
